U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have addressed key issues, including trade, immigration, and security, during their high-stakes meeting at the White House. Trump emphasized the need for India to help curb unauthorized immigration, while Modi proposed tariff reductions and increased energy and defense purchases to ease trade tensions.

The leaders agreed to work toward a trade deal within the next seven months, with Modi stating India’s goal to double trade with the U.S. by 2030. Trump welcomed the proposals, stating, “We are being reciprocal with India.”

The discussions also touched on security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and joint production of advanced technologies. Modi emphasized India’s commitment to peace, stating, “India has a side, and that side is of peace.”

The meeting marks a significant step toward resolving long-standing disputes and strengthening bilateral ties.
